LFD2NX-40-8BG256C
39K-cell Lattice Certus-NX FPGA in caBGA-256 with hardened PCIe Gen2, GigE and DDR3 on the low-power 28 nm FD-SOI Nexus platform.
The LFD2NX-40-8BG256C is a Lattice Certus-NX general purpose FPGA with 39K logic cells, 1.5 Mb of embedded memory and 56 multipliers in a 256-ball caBGA package. Certus-NX is built on the Lattice Nexus platform using 28 nm FD-SOI technology, which cuts power and raises reliability compared with bulk CMOS FPGAs, and it packs industry-leading I/O density into packages as small as 6x6 mm. The device includes hardened PCIe Gen2, Gigabit Ethernet and DDR3 memory interfaces, so a designer can build high-speed connectivity without consuming soft logic or adding external PHY components. That combination makes Certus-NX well suited to compact, power-sensitive products that still need serious interfaces, such as embedded controllers, edge gateways, industrial modules and communications equipment. The 39K-cell fabric handles bridging, control and moderate DSP, and the hardened blocks free logic for the application. Certus-NX also supports secure configuration and multi-boot options. Every device is factory-traceable and ships with import declaration, certificate of origin and RoHS documentation. Designers should plan the high-speed interfaces, the power rails and the configuration scheme before layout. BeiLuo holds this part in regional stock and our FAE team supports selection, interface timing and board validation.
FAE Professional Review
The LFD2NX-40-8BG256C is where Certus-NX earns its keep: hardened PCIe, GigE and DDR3 plus 39K cells in a compact FD-SOI device. Power is markedly lower than bulk CMOS at the same density, and the I/O density solves tight boards. Watch the high-speed interface layout and the power-up sequence.

Frequently Asked Questions
What projects suit the LFD2NX-40-8BG256C?
It fits compact products that need hardened PCIe, Gigabit Ethernet or DDR3 alongside 39K cells of logic, such as edge gateways, industrial modules and embedded controllers, where low power and high I/O density matter.
The FD-SOI process keeps power low at this density.
Why does FD-SOI matter for an FPGA?
FD-SOI reduces leakage and improves soft-error immunity compared with bulk CMOS, so the Certus-NX family runs cooler, draws less power and is more reliable in the field. That helps battery-adjacent and thermally constrained products.
Our FAE team can compare power against ECP5 for your design.
How do I design the high-speed interfaces?
Keep the PCIe, GigE and DDR3 routing short and impedance-controlled, follow the Lattice hardware checklist for the package, and sequence the power rails correctly. The hardened blocks make the interfaces reliable once the layout is right.
