iCE40HX8K-CT256
7,680-cell Lattice iCE40 HX FPGA in caBGA-256 with 128 Kb block RAM for low-power bridging, I/O expansion and control logic.
The iCE40HX8K-CT256 is a Lattice iCE40 HX FPGA with 7,680 logic cells and 128 Kb of block RAM in a 256-ball caBGA package. The iCE40 HX family provides a larger programmable fabric than the UltraPlus devices for bridging, simple control and interface expansion while keeping the low-power character of the iCE40 architecture. Because it does not include SPRAM or DSP multipliers, the HX8K is best for logic-intensive rather than arithmetic-intensive functions, such as protocol conversion, I/O expansion, address decoding and glue between system components. The device configures from on-chip non-volatile memory or external flash and reaches its operating state quickly, and the architecture is compact and quick to place and route. The caBGA-256 package offers a high I/O count in a small area, which suits dense board layouts. The iCE40 HX range is supported by Lattice's toolchain and by open-source synthesis flows, which is valuable for research and for teams that prefer tool independence. Typical products include embedded controllers, industrial I/O modules, test equipment and consumer devices that need a little more logic than a CPLD but less power than a general purpose FPGA. Every device is factory-traceable and ships with import declaration, certificate of origin and RoHS documentation. BeiLuo holds this class in stock and our FAE team supports logic budgeting, configuration and I/O.
FAE Professional Review
The iCE40HX8K-CT256 is a straightforward, low-power logic expander: 7,680 cells and 128 Kb of RAM in a high-I/O BGA. It has no multipliers, so use it for bridging and control rather than DSP. The iCE40 architecture is quick to learn and the open-source flow helps research teams.

Frequently Asked Questions
What projects suit the iCE40HX8K-CT256?
It fits logic-intensive tasks such as I/O expansion, protocol bridging and address decoding where you want more fabric than a CPLD but do not need DSP or SPRAM. The high-I/O BGA helps dense boards.
For arithmetic functions, choose an UltraPlus or ECP5 device instead.
Why does the HX8K lack DSP blocks?
The iCE40 HX family targets logic and bridging rather than signal processing, so it omits the multipliers and SPRAM that UltraPlus adds. If your design needs multiply-accumulate, choose UltraPlus or a larger FPGA family.
Our FAE team can map your function to the right family.
Can I use an open-source flow?
Yes. The iCE40 families, including HX8K, are supported by open-source synthesis and place-and-route, which is convenient for research and experimentation. Lattice's own toolchain remains available for production designs.
We can advise on both flows.
